Gatsby "kiss, marry, kill"

In English, we started reading "The Great Gatsby" and now we just finished reading the book. Many characters throughout the storyline have had a big role and how other characters feel, change their mind, or the actions they might take. Our blog we have to choose to either marry, kiss, or kill each character based on what they think, do, or has done.

For the women's side, I would have to marry Jordan out of all the others. The reason why I would marry her is because she seems to be a great friend and a person who was against racism. On page 13, Tom and the others were talking about how the white race should always be the dominant race. However, Jordan may seem against it because she tries to change the subject by saying, "You ought to live in California." Another reason why I would marry her is because she cares for Daisy, she knows that ever since Daisy had a break down of Gatsby not returning from the war, and how she married Tom Buchanan, that Daisy still loved and missed Gatsby. She was one of the people to reunite Daisy and Gatsby. On page 78, it states, "if you'll invite Daisy to your house some afternoon and then let him come over." The fact that she cares about others and is a strong and great women. She seems like a really cool person to even marry because she isn't that dramatic compared to the other women in this book. Another reason why she cares about other people is because she remember the past, on page 177 it quotes her saying, "Nevertheless you did throw me over.'... and I felt a little dizzy for a while" This quote relates because she cares about some people, such as Nick. She would be a good person to marry because she's a person of lover.

The woman I would kiss would probably be Daisy. The reason why I wouldn't want to marry her is because she was cheating on Tom with seeing Gatsby, and she never really ever loved Tom. Yes, she said "I did love him once"(page 132) She mostly loves Gatsby more because he treated her with compassion. She never really got over their relationship. During the wedding day, she got a letter from Gatsby, and she was mourning and yet she still married Tom, just to make herself feel better. On page 132, she reveals saying to everyone, "I never loved him," I wouldn't want to be with a girl who faked love. The fact that she was also a gold digger. On page 130 Gatsby saying to Tom, "She only married you because I was poor and she was tired of waiting for me." Women who are gold diggers are just a waste of time. They are just with you because of your money and that is just messed up.

Lastly, the person I would kill would be Myrtle. She is just dramatic in the book. She is crazy. She kept talking about Daisy to Tom, by saying "Daisy! Daisy! Daisy!" (page 37) She is just a snob, just with guys for the money. Also, to be honest, she is described as an ugly girl in the book. On page 25, "Her face, above a spotted dress of dark blue crepe-de-chine, contained no facet or gleam of beauty." She also keeps asking for things such as a dog, like buy it with your own money. The fact that she was still being a mistress to Tom throughout the whole entire book and she was still married to Wilson is just messed up. Women need to be loyal. If she loved Tom, she should've just told Wilson the truth and divorced him.

For the guys side, I would have to marry Jay Gatsby. The reason why I would marry Gatsby is because first off he has a very massive grandiose house, and in his house he throws parties every night. Quote on page 5, "a factual imitation of some Hotel de Ville in Normandy." I would love to live in a nice big house with a nice person and for them to throw nice parties. It would be the dream life to be being rich, and talking to people and becoming friends with them. He also seems friendly and romantic. The fact that he told Jordan that he still loved Tom as well was very shocking to me.

For the guys side, I would have to kiss Tom Buchanan. He seems really nice and very supportive and a person that would take care of their spouse.   Second of all, he's a rich person. Quote on page 6, "his family were enormously wealthy-" If I were a girl I would be his girlfriend for some time being me nice things, but would never marry him. He hits girls and hitting people, especially girls is just wrong. According to page 37, "Tom Buchanan broke her nose with his open hand." Being in a relationship, with someone is abuses you is just wrong.

Last but not least, the person I would kill for the guys side would be Wilson. This person is a psycho! Wilson killed Gatsby. On page 161, it states quote, "he must have felt that he had lost the wold warm world, paid a high price for living too long with a single dream." In this quote, it's describing how Gatsby felt when he was shot. I would not want to be with someone who is a murder. I get why he killed Gatsby, because he thought Gatsby was in the car that was driving, the killed Myrtle, but he didn't have any proof. It was just wrong of what Wilson did.
